Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted Ameesha Patel to retire, despite the humongous success of Gadar, here's why

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is right now winning all the accolades for his latest release web series Heeramandi had once asked Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel to retire after the massive success of Gadar 2. Bhansali is a dream director of every actor and coming such a statement from the stalwart director is indeed disappointing, but here’s a twist. The Gadar 2 actress in one of her interviews had revealed that Bhansali had asked for to retire as she has achieved so much in her two films Gadar and Gadar 2 that many actresses haven’t in their lifetime career. Talking to Bollywood Hungama Ameesha said, “Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, after watching Gadar, wrote a really beautiful letter, complimentary letter to me. And when I had a meeting with him, he said, ‘Ameesha, you should retire now.’ I said, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘Because you’ve already achieved in two films what most people don’t achieve in their entire career. Once in a lifetime, a Mughal-e-Azam, a Mother India, a Pakeezah, a Sholay gets made. You had it in your second film. So what’s next?’ I didn’t understand it at that time because I was a kid, so new to the film world”. Ameesha Patel made her Bollywood debut with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai by replacing Kareena Kapoor in the Hrithik Roshan starrer. The biggest changer in her career was Gadar along with Sunny Deol and after 22 years she came with the sequel and received same amount of love and success.
