Hindustani 2: Kamal Haasan recalls directing Shah Rukh Khan; says ‘I didn’t see him as a superstar…’

Who isn’t a fan of the movie Indian (Hindustani)? The film came out in 1996 and it starred Kamal Haasan, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and others. It got all the love and the entires industry celebrated it. Now, Kamal Haasan is back with the second part of the movie. Yes, we are all eagerly waiting for Hindustani 2 (Indian 2). In this film, along with Kamal Haasan, we also have Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, and Samuthirakani in important roles.

The veteran actor Kamal Haasan will return as the vigilante Senapathy in Hindustani 2. The story will be on the second war of independence against corruption. The trailer launch of the film happened in Mumbai today and Kamal Haasan was present for the launch.

The actor spoke a lot about the movie and also about his incredible journey in the industry. He was asked about directing a great superstar like Shah Rukh Khan.

He recalled directing Shah Rukh Khan for Hey Ram and also revealed that SRK did that movie for free. He shared that when they work together, they are all just people. He said, “I didn’t see him as a superstar and he doesn’t see me as a super director. We are friends. As a matter of fact, Shah Rukh Khan did Hey Ram for free. That cannot be done by a superstar but only by a fan and a good actor. I am so thankful to him.”

Kamal Haasan also shared how he has been a fan of Dilip Kumar and that nobody knows he used to come to Mumbai every year in December for Dilip Kumar’s birthday. He shared that he used to come and kneel down and kiss Dilip Kumar’s hand.

During the launch, it was also revealed that after Hindustani 2, we will also get to see Hindustani 3. Kamal Haasan has already shot for the movie. Hindustani 2 will release in the theatres on July 12 and is directed by Shankar Shanmugham
