Hansal Mehta is one of the most renowned filmmakers in the industry. He has been the man behind critically acclaimed films like Omerta, Citylights and many more. But there was a time when Hansal Mehta had to pick up different projects to make ends meet. In a recent interview, he revealed that he also took up Television. He was given an opportunity to direct a TV serial for Ektaa Kapoor‘s Balaji Telefilms. However, he was asked to leave within 15 days of shoot. Why so? Read on. For new and top TV news and Entertainment News updates, follow BollywoodLife on WhatsApp. In an interview with Mid-Day, Hansal Mehta revealed that he tried his hands on Television as he was working on Ektaa Kapoor’s show called K Street Pali Hill. However, in 15 days, Ekta Kapoor asked him to leave. He shared that the producer very politely told him that the show was looking too much like a film and the format will not work for Television. It was back in 2005. Hansal Mehta was quoted saying, “I was sacked very politely. Unlike what people have heard Very politely she called me and said, ‘Sir, it’s too much like a film. Our shows don’t work because of this. We have a format, we follow that, and I don’t want you to do it. So please leave’.” He also expressed his gratitude toward Sanjay Gupta who then gave him an opportunity to work on a film called Woodstock Villa. He mentioned that Sanjay Gupta saved his life with a steady income as he had ‘reached a point where (he) could not survive’. However, later Hansal Mehta and Ektaa Kapoor did collaborate for Bose: Dead or Alive. It starred Rajkummar Rao in the lead. They have also collaborated for The Buckingham Murders that stars Kareena Kapoor Khan. It is helmed by Hansal Mehta and is produced by Ektaa Kapoor. Hansal Mehta is currently busy with his project called Gandhi. It is a web series. Meanwhile, the third instalment of his hit franchise Scam has also been announced.
