What is Gullak 4 about?

The Hindi web series, now in its fourth season, revolves around the Mishra family that lives in a small town in India. The sweet little parivaar comprises of Santosh (Jameel Khan) and Shanti Mishra (Geetanjali Kulkarni) and their sons Anand aka Annu Mishra (Vaibhav Raj Gupta) and Aman Mishra (Harsh Mayar). Like any typical Indian family, this too goes through various ups and downs in life and while at that, they argue, debate, blame each other but always find an unwavering support in one another. Adding the perfect tadka is their neighbour, played by Sunita Rajwar. But does Gullak 4 has enough hooks to keep you glued and entertained? Read on our Gullak 4 review to find out.

What’s hot about Gullak 4?

Imagine that it a pleasant day with a cool breeze blowing in through the windows. You are sitting in your living room, it’s a full house with elders in the family and kids around as well. It’s cloudy outside and you hope it rains too. There is garma garam chai and pakoras being served. Someone suggests to put on something entertaining on the TV. You switch on your smart TV and browse through various OTT platforms to find something that is fun as well as appropriate for all the members of the family to watch. There are more chances than none that you’d feel exasperated while you hunt for the perfect binge watch. Until, you find Gullak 4 on Sony Liv.

Like the earlier seasons too, the 4th season is full of slice of life moments, that are unique but yet relatable. The challenges of the various members of the Mishra family and the way they steer through them will warm your hearts. We see Aman going through some new experiences of his late teens and his father coming to terms with how to deal with these awkward scenarios. Shanti Mishra on the other hand experiences a setback that shakes her up completely. But she only comes out stronger from there. Santosh Mishra too discovers a different side to him that he never thought existed. Annu’s character is on an interesting track as well and while the tone is set in season 4, we wait to see more of him and the twists and turns in his professional and personal life in Gullak 5.

There is so much happening throughout the season of Gullak 4 but none of the situations seem forced. The narrative is smooth and the performances by all the key characters are natural and effortless. Special mention to Sunita Rajwar, the nosy neighbour, who will reveal a different side to her that will make you say, padosi ho toh aise.

What’s not?

The season seems too short with just 5 episodes that get over in a jiffy. There was scope to take Annu’s story further and show more of Helly Shah and his chemistry but guess the makers have kept it for the next season.

BL Verdict

Gullak 4 is the perfect entertaining watch that will delight audience across generations. It will take the millennials and baby boomers down memory lane and the makers have laced the story with situations that will resonate with the audience of today, the Gen Z. It is a web series made from the heart and for TVF, it is the perfect follow up after the much popular Panchayat 3 that released just a few days ago. Poore parivaar ke saath dekhiye, Gullak 4.
